Common Cents
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-07-23
This Privacy Policy explains how Common Cents handles information when you use the App (app.commoncents.money), the Help Center (help.commoncents.money), and the Common Cents website.
Who we are
Common Cents is provided as a free gift to you. You can contact us at havecommoncents@gmail.com.
Your financial and budgeting data stays with you
Common Cents is designed as a local-first budgeting app. Your budget, account, transaction, category, and related financial data are stored in your browser and in files you choose to keep on your computer. We do not receive or store your financial or budgeting data on Common Cents servers. Except where you explicitly choose an optional connected feature that transfers your data, your financial information is not transmitted to us or shared with third parties.
You are responsible for choosing where to save your files and for keeping backups. If you choose to save your budget file in a third-party cloud storage service (such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud), that provider's privacy practices also apply.
Information connected features may receive
Some optional features use third-party services. We receive or process only the information needed to provide the feature you choose to use.
- Account features: if you create or use an account, our Supabase service may process your email address, user identifier, sign-in session information, and user account-related information.
- Beta notifications: if you request notice about a beta or other availability update, we receive your email address. Cloudflare Turnstile helps protect that form from abuse and may process technical and device information to perform that security function.
- Feedback forms: if you send a question or bug report, our Netlify-hosted forms receive the information you submit, such as your message and any contact information you choose to include.
Browser storage and tracking
The app uses browser storage, including local storage, IndexedDB, and file references. This supports local budgeting data, app preferences, and features such as reopening a file you have chosen to remember.
Common Cents does not use advertising or analytics tracking on the website or app at this time. Connected providers may use technical information or cookies as needed to provide their services, including account security and form-abuse prevention.
How we use information
We use connected-feature information to provide and secure the feature, respond to feedback or requests, communicate about a request you made, maintain the service, and comply with legal obligations.
This does not include any financial information as we do not collect or store it.
When information is shared
We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. We share information with service providers that help run the connected features described above, such as Supabase, Cloudflare, and Netlify, only as needed for those services. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or respond to a valid legal request.
Security and retention
We use reasonable measures to protect information we receive, but no online service is completely secure. We retain connected-feature information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law.
Your choices
You can avoid optional account, beta-notification, and feedback features. You can manage your local app data by clearing browser storage or managing the files you save; doing so may remove access to local data or preferences. To ask about account or contact-form information, contact us at havecommoncents@gmail.com.
Children's privacy
Common Cents is not directed to children under 13, and people under 13 may not use the service. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through a connected feature, contact us so we can address it.
Third-party services and purposes
Supabase - Authentication
Cloudflare - Turnstile protection
Netlify - Feedback Forms
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. We will post the updated policy here and change its effective date. If we begin collecting additional categories of information, introduce analytics, add payment processing, or significantly change how information is handled, we will update this Privacy Policy before those changes take effect.
